SISTEMAR congratulates EMPRESA NAVIERA ELCANO (ENE), Spain, for the delivery of M/V CASTILLO DE MALPICA and M/V CASTILLO DE NAVIA, 120.000 dwt bulkcarriers ordered to SHANHAIGUAN NEW SHIPBUILDING INDUSTRY CO. LTD. (SHG), and fitted with CLT propeller. 

The selection of the CLT propeller designed by SISTEMAR was made after extensive study at model scale field, comparing conventional and CLT propellers; the test results were clearly in favor of the CLT design and prompted the Owners to install the CLT propeller. CLT propeller for both vessels have been manufacturing by DALIAN MARINE PROPELLER CO. LTD.

The sea trials, carried out in the East Chine Sea, confirmed the successful results foreseen by SISTEMAR extrapolation to full scale of model test results. The installation of the CLT propeller increased the propulsive efficiency by more than 6% with regard to the results expected for the alternative conventional propeller so that the contractual ship speed has been achieved with a significant margin of more than 0,3 Kn.

Both, the Owner (ENE) and the Shipyard (SHG) have shown their satisfaction with the results obtained and have confirmed their interest to study the application of CLT propeller for future projects.

In fact, SHG and SISTEMAR have signed a non-exclusive co-operation agreement with the aim to make feasible to the Shipyard to offer to their clients, as an alternative, the installation of CLT propellers designed by SISTEMAR.
